Some people believe that a dissolution of Parliament won’t happen between Christmas and the new year because nobody wants all that hassle during the holidays. I do not think this is a strong argument. The Federal President‘s decision to dissolve Parliament has, as far as I can see, only one effect: the clock starts ticking for new elections. Crucially, everybody keeps their jobs and everybody continues working - both Parliament and Government. Nobody has to pack up their office on December 27th.
