The only reason why the fed would cut interest rates by 50bps is because elections are coming and they want to jumpstart the economy to get Kamala elected. Despite the Fed claiming to be independent, like all D.C. government employees, they obviously lean heavily left (Trump only got 5.4% of the DC vote in 2020).
