Why are you weirdos shuffling to 25bp?

Fed Watch Tool down now to 53% for 50 bps, I propose a new market "will FED Watch Tool switch in favor for 25bps?" ๐Ÿ˜†

For the first time this week odds of 50 bps cut decreased to 57%, also PolyMarket odds went in favor of 25 bps. Maybe insider trading, what you guys think?

I believe in the last meetings it was based on the FED Rate monitor, so I am confused why it shows 5.25% now.
aldynspeedruns
depends what it's based on, if it's based on expert opinion then 5.25% makes sense, if it's based on GME fedwatch then it should be 5.00%. Could be a combination of both or more factors and decides that 5.25% is what it should be
McDonalds-Employee

4 hours to go and 50 bps odds declined to 59% on the Fed Watch Tool https://www.cmegroup.com/markets/interest-rates/cme-fedwatch-tool.html
McDonalds-Employee
Something really strange just happened, if you got to any economic calendar (investing.com, fxstreet, tradingview etc.) they all show 5.25% as the expected reading. Considering that the odds for 50 bps are higher than 25 bps it should show 5.00%. What you guys think?
McDonalds-Employee

CME Fed Watch Tool just increased from 32 to 39% for 25 bps, let's hope it can extend it's gains ๐Ÿ˜Š

finally someone gets it... if the previous unemployment rate would have came in worse than expected, yes there would be a chance for 50 bps, but not after unemployment went down from 4.3 to 4.2%
Bastardocane

It will start with 25 basis points, if the labor market or economic conditions worsen it will go 50 points. If it gets it wrong and acts fast inflation can come back quickly

One hard lesson I had to learn on Polymarket is that it's overrun by MAGA, but I don't blame them, Hillary had a much higher lead in the polls than Trump and he still won in 2016. Don't forget that :)

"Yes" is currently so underpriced in my opinion. Bitcoin has been so volatile, it was at 60k less than 12 hours ago and hit has been dipping under 60k like this for a long time now, I really don't get why people are panic selling, as if it won't recover in two and a half days lol.

I am sorry to inform you, but read the rules of this market. ANY territory in the Kursk region counts, the city of Kurk doesn't matter.
n/a
It's unlikely that Ukraine will hold Kursk through August 31. Kursk is a Russian city, and any recent Ukrainian incursions or attacks in the region are temporary and limited in scope. The Russian military is expected to respond swiftly to reclaim any areas that may have been temporarily breached. Given Russia's significant military presence and its strategic interest in maintaining control over its own territory, it's highly probable that Russia will liberate any territory invaded by Ukraine within a short time frame. The geographical proximity to Russian supply lines and the overall strength of Russia's military in the region make it unlikely that Ukraine could sustain control over Kursk or any part of it for an extended period.

Exactly my take as well, Jerome Powell would not risk his legacy for that and at the end of the day this Japanese Monetary intervention only had a small effect on the US economy, not like the pandemic which grinded the economy to a halt, an emergency cut back then was justified in 2020 but not now.

UBS is predicting 100 bps cuts by the end of 2024, 50 bps in September and 25 in November and another 25 in December. I have no idea why the CME futures give the 50 bps a 75% probability while Polymarket is at 53 cents. I guess it's the emergency cut conspiracy theories, no way this will happen.

Citi: Fed Rate Cut in Extraordinary Meeting is Possible, but Not the Base Case - Citi does not rule out the possibility of the Federal Reserve (Fed) anticipating a rate cut in an extraordinary meeting, especially if market sell-offs persist, although it does not consider this scenario the most likely. The bank believes that new signs of weakening in the American economy should not only guarantee a 50 basis point cut in the September meeting but also lead officials to project faster monetary easing to bring rates to more neutral conditions. "A new risk asset sell-off could also prompt quicker cuts, as Fed officials would see this as an exogenous tightening of financial conditions," it states.

hi anon, at the end it's not really P2P, when Polymarket closes the market with a resolution you will see a claim button, where you see now the "Buy" button. You click on Claim and get your shares at a value of 100c (if you won). Hope that helps! Welcome to the Club
