According to Ukrainian law, elections are prohibited during martial law, and the constitution requires the president to fulfill his powers until a new president takes office. All opposition leaders agreed publicly long ago that Zelensky is the legitimate president until the war is over and new elections are held. If a ceasefire starts in April, martial law will be lifted no sooner than 2 months later. After that, the start of the election campaign, which lasts 120 days, is announced. That is, elections are possible not earlier than September-October. After that, it will be another month before the inauguration of the new president. It is more likely that Trump will die than Zelensky will leave the presidency before July.
