Summary
The discussion on whether Microsoft shareholders will approve a Bitcoin investment highlights a complex decision-making process where the opinions are divided. Key factors include the Microsoft board's opposition to the investment and the influence of BlackRock as a major shareholder with a Bitcoin ETF. Additionally, there is skepticism about the volatility of crypto assets, particularly during global tensions, as some argue it makes Bitcoin a risky investment for Microsoft. Others believe that external forces might try to influence the outcome to favor Bitcoin investment, while individual investors express mixed opinions based on market pricing and past experiences with similar decisions.
- Microsoft board's reluctance, contrasted with BlackRock's uncertain stance, adds complexity to shareholder voting dynamics.
- Concerns about Bitcoin's price volatility amidst geopolitical tensions are driving skepticism among some shareholders.

This market is probably priced fairly. The MSFT board is against it, whereas BlackRock, as the second-largest shareholder running a Bitcoin ETF with its market connections, is a wildcard.

Looking at the results of 2023 proxy voting, there was not a single shareholder proposal that was even close to pass. The closest one being at 33% for. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/investor/corporate-governance/votingresults Also, the justification of the board concerning the proposal is quite convincing, saying that they are already evaluating many options including crypto when allocating their assets and that an assessment is unwarranted.
