Summary
The discussion on the betting market for the British Columbia election indicates a closely contested race between the Conservatives and the NDP. Participants are referencing various polling data, with Mainstreet polls frequently cited for showing Conservatives with a strong position. However, there is a mixed sentiment about trust in different polls as some individuals suggest certain polls tend to skew results. There is concern over issues such as homelessness, socialist policies, and independent candidates potentially affecting the NDP's chances. The market's rules and their impact on betting outcomes also spark debates, particularly in scenarios of a tie.
- The Mainstreet poll is a key reference, showing Conservatives ahead, but there's skepticism about polls like Angus Reid, which some feel skew left.
- Participants are wary of the market rules, especially concerning tie-break resolutions, which may not accurately reflect voter sentiment in British Columbia.

knowing that this was the FIRST election to be held with electronic tabulators, I expect that the results today are the most accurate intitial results we've seen. Those saying that mail ins votes have not been counted are not correct as the vast majority of mail ins have been counted but only those received after advanced polling ended have yet to be counted. Its gg to the conservatives, this market will resolve to NDP YES. Someone take my liquidity.

It is too close to call. But everybody in BC is tired of the socialism and homeless drug den encampments everywhere, this single issue will give the cons a majority.

Trump effect - many people secretly voting Conservative but don't admit it the pollsters because the media has been so denigrating toward them. Province is in shambles after 7 years of NDP
