Summary
The discussion revolves around the potential for Eric Adams, the mayor of New York City, to leave office before the year 2025. Opinions are divided with some participants feeling confident that Adams will be ousted due to various pressures, including potential legal challenges and political maneuvering. Other commenters suggest that Adams is resilient and unlikely to resign willingly, comparing him to other politicians who have survived scandals. The legal and political implications of his possible resignation, along with the impact on his allies and the challenges from opponents, are key topics of debate.
- Some believe that legal troubles and political pressures might force Eric Adams out, while others argue that the political landscape allows such figures to endure scandals without stepping down voluntarily.
- Discussion includes potential successors and the complications related to the removal process, highlighting risks and tensions within political alliances, particularly with Kathy Hochul’s possible role and the implications for her political future.

In the USA in 2024 nobody from either party ever quits. They just keep going until they lose or are going to prison. Doesn’t matter at all if you are a slavery-loving porn booth regular, it’s okay if you are caught red handed with Egyptian and Qatari gold bars in your freezer, totally cool if you pull fire alarms in the capital to delay votes, and it’s really no problem to run as a convicted felon. Standard 2024 strategy is to vigorously deny all wrongdoing, claim the charges against you are just a rigged witch hunt, and hunker down until the public gets distracted by the next shiny object.

Doesn't matter. Kathy Hochul can remove him. You think she won't if he refuses to step down?

“…Ms. Hochul has a reputation for being profoundly loyal. Indeed, she has built something of a reputation for her steadfast commitment to allies facing headwinds — including President Biden, whom she stumped for even after his disastrous debate performance, and her former lieutenant governor, Brian Benjamin, whom she defended in the wake of another federal corruption investigation. (The case against Mr. Benjamin was dismissed by an appellate court last year, but subsequently revived. Its status is uncertain)…”

The article quoted below makes a powerful case for “No” but another strong factor supporting “No” is a shortage of time: the expiration is in only 94 days. Adams and his legal team have no incentive to rush into a plea deal and every incentive to drag this out. In another week or two this Adams stuff will feel like tired old news and the ADHD media will move on to covering the usual October surprises, then right after they will cover the expected post-election disputes, then right after that are USA Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years holidays all in quick succession, and that’s it: the year is over, and this market is done.
