How are honda and nissan going to agree on a deal structure for the merger by jan 31st if they won't even know how many companies are involved in the merger by then lol

they only have to announce the merge/acquisition, no merging has to actually take place by then. imo the announcement today means they are already nearer than they are leading on.

announcement of talks (today) is not the same as an announcement of a merger agreement, which is scheduled for June 2025. That is what should be relevant for this market.

This will resolve to yes if they WILL BE merging, doesn't matter when and an announcement is enough, it doesn't have to happen by the deadline

Just to clear the dust: There was no confirmation that the two merge. Instead, they entered a six month period to figure out IF they will merge. After those six months, they will decide. Headlines like on CNN (link below) have been a bit misleading. This market will resolve to No on Jan 31 if no further news come up (which is highly unlikely). Nissan released a comment on Wednesday morning, stating, “Nissan, Honda, and MMC [Mitsubishi Motors] are considering various possibilities for future collaboration.” Honda also released a similar comment.
