Summary

The discussion on the betting market focused on the potential for Israel to conduct a military strike against Iran in November, drawing both skepticism and concern from participants. Several users referenced a past controversy where a similar market allegedly resolved in opposition to reality, leading to accusations of vote manipulation. This past incident has led to distrust towards the platform's handling of similar markets. Opinions varied, with some users expressing disbelief in any imminent threat, while others commented on the market's prediction pattern and related geopolitical forecasts.

  • Concerns of possible manipulation in market outcomes resurfaced due to historical incidents involving vote rigging during the "Israel attacking Iraq" market, which has left several users wary of betting on similar markets.
  • Current reports from sources like Israel Channel 12 suggest there is no evidence of substantial preparation for an Iranian attack, offering a counter-narrative to the market speculations and predictions about imminent conflict.

It was not a "rule" that was broken, it was that a market resolved in complete opposition with reality by whales who rigged the UMA vote. Essentially, because they have more buying power, they are able to tilt the votes in their favor, even though they make up a tiny percentage of the actual users... In this case, the market resolved to "Yes'" for Israel attacking Iraq, when, in reality, Israel never did. They depended on a few spurious statements made by news outlets, as opposed to the majority consensus of all other news outlets, as well as official statements by Israel and Iraq that indeed, there had been no attack. There are also actual coordinates of where the projectiles landed, clear of Iraqi borders. So, unfortunately, it has become a flagrant example of UMA rigging on Polymarket, a straight scam.
