which makes it look even worse... so why would the side that has almost 5-1 numerical advantage have to resort to bring in the army of another country to help them?

Is there any evidence that either side is desperate to end it in the specified timeframe? If not, then given the geopolitical stakes of the negotiation (especially from US + Russia) , wouldn't that imply prolonged negotiations as that would enable all sides to flesh out their requests and consider all the possible combinations of concessions each side is willing to make
