I appreciate the insight and the fact that you don't go into a state of dismay whenever someone has a different perspective, unlike some people I won't name here who go ballistic

If you're actually interested why Bernie has not formally endorsed yet, you should definitely read the comments. But basically it's a political term that is the highest, clearest level of endorsement. The 'formal' part leaves no doubt so that the candidate can use it in their materials to gather votes. It would also be seen as dirty and kind of backstabby to formally endorse a candidate while still telling that candidate which policies they should support. Which is why Bernie wanted to leave him some room to push for his policies.
